So it’s my birthday…

Happy birthday.

Cake, friends, music, the entire band in the pub singing to me happy bday, what a blast …

Good night

It’s also the time to reflect : I am a published author, a poetry prize award winner, a creator.

I write fiction ans non fiction, I have been a contributor to an online newspaper, and to the newsletter of an Expat Organisation for 7 yrs. I am currently writing a story set mostly in a submarine, in a dystopian society/world ( began in 2018) . I have also begun a piece, in regards to the childhood family home (a big house) and the ordeals of having to maintain such a property, using the comedic/parody genre. My sister laughed many times ( good, I’m on doing a good job, then). One thing leadig to another, I have begun the biography of my 2nd great grand father Joseph G=irard, who purchased the house and vineyards (among other estate), and who incidentally, was the man who obtained the 1st wine AOC ( Protection of the name and region for wines), He was a childhood best friend of both my geat grand fathers, ( paternal and maternal sides ) since they were 6. He later married my greant grand father’s widow ( the mother of my grand father Georges), thus entering legally and irrevocaby in our family line, and making my grand-father Georges (and his brother Jean) not just his stepsons , but his spiritual sons, and fully, legally, his heirs. The children of Jean and Georges are (and we, the grand kids) are his heirs and legatees too. My grand father lived up to the Legacy of Joseph, keeping the house and teh vineyard, so did my mother. I have been harvesting the graoes in my great grand father’s vineyards since I was 7, along with the whole family, until the vineyards were sold in 2015 (alas). The man Joseph was astonishing , had a formidable capacity of work, published many books, delivered cpuntless conferences and was a professor at the prestigious Sciences Politiques Institute (among other work occupations). So yes, I decided to pay a tribute to the man, and to write his bio, based on what my grand parents and my mom and other family memebers have told me and shared about him, alonog wth letters, photographs and a spectacular bust of him, in bronze, and as there are so many family archives and personnal papers and letters attesting of his extraordinary life. The 1ooth anniversary of the 1st wine AOC of France is also something to prepare in order to properly celebrate. We have to get ready within the next decade, and celebrate, just as we had celebrated the 50th in 1986, with my grandfather and the family.

Update : a bio is quite exhausting to write, and when the loss of a dear one affects you more than you think, and the loss of a childhood house in harrowing conditions is devastating, then writing is severely crippled.

to be contnued…
